Last night I sat down with my calendar, my Meal Planner, Recipe Binder, and my Blog Editorial Calendar and got myself in check. Ahhh...feels so good to lay everything out and know which direction I am heading!
My calendar keeps myself and family in order...appointments, school, soccer practice, soccer games, time to be with friends, work, etc. My meal planner has helped me organize my shopping, and keeps me sane as far as dinner is concerned. The Organized Family Menu Planner -which I found on one of my favorite organizing sites, A Bowl Full of Lemons- helps organize each week’s meals, build grocery lists and maintain food budgets and dietary requirements with this well laid out and handy planner. There is also a section to help you plan a special occasion, or dinner party. I found I can create menus that suit my family, as well as our busy lifestyle.
The Organized Family Menu Planner Features:
- 52 weeks of Menu Planning worksheets & detachable shopping lists
- Food preferences chart
- Favorite Meals list
- Recipes Section
- Envelope to store recipes
- Special Occasions Planning Pages –
- Measurement Conversion Chart
- Cleanable Cover
- By Glow Baby (can be purchased on the Glow Baby site or Amazon for $20)
On Sundays I plan out dinner for the week leaving wiggle room for going out or an impromptu visit to our favorite kid and dog friendly brewery Track 7, where we pack an easy meal to bring it with us. This is where my recipe binder comes in to play. I keep pages from magazines of recipes I want to try. If it passes the family taste test...then it's a keeper.
I love to cook with our fabulous California seasonal produce and things from our garden! I keep all my favorite cookbooks at arms reach for inspiration! Sometimes meals can take a bit of prep time... That's why I delegate those fun meals to Wednesdays, and the weekends. Monday is always an easy "Meatless Monday", Tuesday's and Thursdays we have soccer practice so it's "Taco Tuesday" utilizing leftovers, or something I've tried in the slow cooker. I'm still not a huge fan of the slow cooker, but let's be honest, coming home to dinner warm, and ready to eat is awesome! I have found some good slow cooker recipes on Pinterest and the Food Network magazine, plus, it's fun to sit down to dinner with my family and discuss what we're eating and how we could tweak it to our liking.
I'm looking for a little help in the Slow Cooker category...Anyone have a tasty slow cooker recipe? I'd love to hear your suggestions or try a shared recipe that I can post!
All this talk about food i.I'm hungry!
