Choose my room and do the "10 Minute Mindful Makeover". Here is where I select the room I want to make over and take 10 minutes to sit quietly in the space and really look at the room. I imagined what it looked like empty and focused on what I wanted to change. I started to rebuild the room with my new ideas in my mind.
"Hello Outbox, Goodbye Clutter".
I chose a space that is clearly defined as my "Outbox". I selected an area that is out of the way of our daily activities and is a place I can allow to get messy for a while. Now this "Outbox" is not garbage; it is a holding place where things will sit while their fate is being decided.
1. Anything can go in the Outbox
2. The Outbox is allowed to get messy
3. Everything must stay in the Outbox for at least one week
4. After that time you have several choices
a. Take anything back out
b. Leave anything you are undecided about for one more week
c. Dispose of the rest by moving to the garbage, recycling bin, or giveaway pile
Today's assignment takes a little more time but it will help me move forward in several areas. One, it's so nice to reduce the space and items to a 2d plan... it gives me clarity to see it in front of me in black and white. Two, it gives me a place to have all the measurements in one place. Three, this will help me when working on the layout of my daughters room.
