As you look through and try on each piece, ask yourself these 8 questions:
- Does it fit?
- Have I worn this in the last year?
- Will I wear this again?
- Is this currently in style?
- Does this piece represent me and my style?
- Does this need mending, and will I take the time to fix it?
- Would I buy this if I were shopping right now?
- Do I feel good when I wear this?
Have you said no to any of these questions? Well then it is time to make your piles.
If I chose to sell an item it must be in great condition and something that is in style or a classic piece. There is a Face Book Group here in Sacramento I use called "My Best Friends Closet". Here we gals can sell our "gently used", "new with tags", "worn once/in great condition", and so on, items at a reasonable price. It's local, trustworthy and oh-so-simple!
I personally donate to our local Food Bank & Family Services & WEAVE (Women escaping a violent environment).
This is fun to do with friends or family. Have everyone bring their "swap" items, crack open a bottle of bubbly, and have fun!
Need I say more? These items have holes, are worn thin, stained, and basically just don't belong in your closet any longer.
My date with my closet is next week and I will post my progress. How about you? How do you plan your Spring closet cleaning?
